may be made out to SPORTS and should be mailed to us at: “A Taste 4 SPORTS” Gala Fundraiser August 1st at San Diego Hall of Champions SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes is hosting our 6th Annual "A Taste 4 SPORTS" gala fundraiser on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 6:00-9:30pm at the San Diego Hall of Champions (2131 Pan American Plaza, SD 92101) in beautiful Balboa Park. S4EA will be honoring Olympic track gold medalist Monique Henderson as our 1st Annual 'SPORTS Woman of the Year'. Reservations are $60 per person. Last year's “A Taste 4 SPORTS” gala fundraiser on June 21, 2012 at the SD Hall of Champions was a great success with $60,000 made for S4EA. 350 guests had the opportunity to taste food and wine from over 20 restaurants, caterers, and wineries. “A Taste 4 SPORTS” included Master of Ceremonies Lynda Martin KOGO, music by 'The Rob Thorsen Quartet' featuring Gilbert Castellanos on trumpet, a fabulous silent & live auction, raffle, food & drinks, and fun. Notable sports figures attending included Olympic track gold medalist Monique Henderson, World Boxing Hall of Famer Rodolfo "El Gato" Gonzalez, San Diego Sockers legend Juli Veee & special celebrity guest Mad Mike from MTV's "Pimp My Ride". S4EA 'Bunco' Fundraiser May 17th Makes $1,370 for S4EA 'Bunco' on May 17th at S4EA/North Shores Auditorium was a great success. $1,370 was made for S4EA from 'Bunco'. SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes presented 'Bunco' on Friday, May 17th at the S4EA/North Shores Auditorium (9575 Aero Drive, San Diego 92123) from 6-8pm. Tickets are $20 - which includes hors d'oeuvres, soft drinks and two rounds of tournament play. Prizes are given for most wins, most losses, and most Buncos. S4EA Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser April 20th Makes $1,000 for S4EA The S4EA Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser held on April 20th at Arc/North Shores was a great success. Everyone enjoyed the pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. A raffle was held. Over $1,000 was made for S4EA. The S4EA Athlete Council elections were held at the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser. Congratulations to the following S4EA Athlete Council Officers: Kenyetta Pete (President), Nicole Alvarez (Vice President), Karly Koontz (Secretary), Barbie Hager (Treasurer), and Isaac Hernandez (Sergeant-At-Arms). S4EA South Bay Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser April 28th Makes $2,300 for S4EA South Bay The S4EA South Bay Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser held on April 28th at Arc/Starlight Center was a great success. Everyone enjoyed the pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. A raffle was held. Over $2,300 was made for S4EA South Bay. S4EA Guacamole Bowl Fundraiser February 23rd Makes $14,000 for S4EA The 10th Annual Law Enforcement Challenge “Guacamole Bowl” held on February 23rd at the Balboa Park Club was a great success. The Guacamole Bowl attracted more than 2,000 guests who tasted guacamole from 27 teams to help determine who makes the best guacamole. The Guacamole Bowl made $14,000 to benefit S4EA. The Guacamole Bowl is co-sponsored by San Diego Park & Recreation-Therapeutic Recreation Services. Click here for Guacamole Bowl Program. The team repeating as champions of the coveted Guacamole Bowl and avocado green jacket was the Hot Guac Cops-San Diego Police Department West (also Law Enforcement winner). The winner of the Kiwanis Division was Gurus of Guac. The winner of Open 1 Division was Cheese Enchiladas. The winner of Open 2 Division was Big Block-amole. The People's Choice winner was Gurus of Guac. Repeating as the Best Decor winner was Cheese Enchiladas. Thank you to everyone participating to make the 10th Annual Law Enforcement Challenge "Guacamole Bowl" the best ever. Farmers Insurance Open PGA Golf Tournament January 21-27 Makes $6,000 for S4EA The Farmers Insurance Open PGA Golf Tournament held January 21-27 at the Torrey Pines Golf Course was a great success. Tiger Woods was back, not only winning the tournament, but also bringing the large crowds back. S4EA ran 2 concession booths during the week with part of the proceeds benefiting S4EA. Over $6,000 was made this year by S4EA. Last year S4EA made only $2,500, so the large crowds certainly helped S4EA. S4EA 'Band Together' Fundraiser November 16, 2012 Makes $2,000 for S4EA The S4EA benefit concert 'Band Together' on November16, 2012 at Tio Leo's-Morena was a great success. $2,000 was raised for S4EA. S4EA Jelly-Jam-A-Rama Fundraiser October 20, 2012 Makes $1,300 for S4EA The 1st Annual Jelly-Jam-A-Rama on October 20, 2012 at the Balboa Park Club was a great success. Over 100 people were given a bag of Einstein Bros. Bagels to taste the jellies, jams, marmalades, and conserves made from the 10 entrants. Celebrity judges included Mark Christopher Lawrence from the popular NBC series Chuck. In the final round the top vote getter was Matt Weathersby's Jalapeno Jelly who was awarded the Best in Show blue ribbon. The winners of each category were the following: Eddy Dunkel - Broken Pig Jam Congratulations to all of the winners who received a year's supply of pectin from Pacific Pectin. Over $1,300 was brought in to S4EA from the Jelly-Jam-A-Rama.
