A Taste 4 SPORTS

SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes hosted our 3rd Annual “A Taste 4 SPORTS” gala fundraiser on July 15th in the Bayview Room at Marina Village overlooking beautiful Mission Bay. “A Taste 4 SPORTS” featured appearances by notable sports figures including Olympic Gold Medalist Monique Henderson, historic miler Steve Scott, Local Running Legend Paul Greer & special celebrity guest Mad Mike from MTV's "Pimp My Ride", music by ‘The Rob Thorsen Quartet' featuring Gilbert Castellanos on trumpet, a fabulous silent and live auction, raffle, and fun.

Over 350 guests attended the 2010 “A Taste 4 SPORTS” – raising over $50,000 to support S4EA sports programs for athletes with developmental disabilities in San Diego. Great event!

'Flapjack Fundraiser' September 25 at Hazard Center Applebee's to Benefit S4EA

The S4EA 'Flapjack Fundraiser' Pancake Breakfast will be held at the Hazard Center Applebee's (7510 Hazard Center Dr., SD 92108) on Saturday, September 25th from 8-10am for $10 per person. The flapjack breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. A raffle will be held. Bring the family and friends to the delicious breakfast and support S4EA. 7th Annual Guacamole Bowl Raises $10,000 for S4EA

The 7th Annual Law Enforcement "Guacamole Bowl" on February 27th at the Balboa Park Club raised $10,000 for S4EA. The pouring rain did not hold back over 1,000 people from attending and tasting the great guacamole made by 25 teams.

The Cheese Enchiladas (Kathy Nelson's group home) won the coveted Guacamole Cup and the Pursel Family Award. The Hot Guac Cops-SDPD Western won the Law Enforcement Division. The South Bay Kiwanis (Michele Tyler also helped coordinate the S4EA Track Meet) won the Kiwanis Division. Casa de Pico won the Professional Division. The San Diego Retired Fire & Police Association won the People's Choice Award and gave S4EA $1,000. The San Marcos Kiwanis won the Best Decorated Award.

The Guacamole bowl Sponsors included Calavo Growers, Jordano's, Mission Foods, Pactiv, and San Diego Park & Recreation - Therapeutic Recreation Services.

S4EA would like to thank Guacamole Bowl founder Matt Weathersby (SDPD-Retired), the Guacamole Bowl Organizing Committee, the Celebrity Judges, teams, sponsors, and everyone that was involved in this very successful fundraiser.

Community Giving Programs - Companies

Many companies have community giving programs and we need your help in identifying some of these companies so we can reach out to them for support for our programs.

Many companies also have matching gift and/or volunteer recognition programs that allow employees to direct company donations to the charity of their choice. Please check with your human resource department regarding details.
