SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes is a San Diego-based sports program serving athletes with developmental disabilities ages 5 through adult.

We exist to create enhanced opportunities for people with and without disabilities to interact and form lasting bonds of friendship through shared sports and recreational activities in their communities.

Upcoming Events

S4EA Karaoke & Dinner: The S4EA Athlete Council is having Karaoke Night with dinner and meeting on Friday, November 7th from 6-8pm at S4EA/North Shores (9575 Aero Dr., San Diego 92123) for $10.

S4EA Fall Floor Hockey Tournament: The S4EA Fall Floor Hockey Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, November 15th from 9am-5pm at the San Diego Convention Center with the Civitan providing the lunches.

S4EA Volleyball & Table Tennis Tournament: The S4EA Volleyball & Table Tennis Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, November 22nd from 9am-5pm at the Balboa Park Activity Center with the Imperial Beach Kiwanis providing the lunch & SD Park & Recreation-Therapeutic Recreation Services the co-sponsor.

S4EA Holiday Party: The S4EA Holiday Party is scheduled for Sunday, December 7th from 4-7pm at the Eagles Lodge. Activities include music, dancing, Mexican dinner by Pepe, visit by Santa & a gift exchange (please bring a gift-maximum value $10). No cost. RSVP by Dec 2nd to S4EA at 858-565-7432.

S4EA Bowling Tournament: The S4EA Bowling Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, December 13th from 9am-4pm at 32nd Street Naval Station. HD Supply Facilities Maintenance is sponsoring the bowling tournament for $5,000.

"A Taste 4 SPORTS" Fundraiser: SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes hosted our 7th Annual “A Taste 4 SPORTS” gala fundraiser on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the San Diego Hall of Champions (2131 Pan American Plaza, SD 92101) in beautiful Balboa Park. S4EA honored SDSU Basketball Head Coach, Steve Fisher, as our 'SPORTS Man of the Year'. The SDSU Basketball Team made the Sweet 16 during March Madness at the NCAA Basketball Tournament. SPORTS Oportunities

SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes offers 24 sports in 4 sports seasons. Sports include baseball, basketball, bocce, bowling, cross country & downhill skiing, cycling, figure & speed skating, flag football, floor hockey, golf, judo, sailing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, soccer, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track & field, volleyball, and walking/exercise.

Athletes with developmental disabilities, families, friends & others can play and compete.

84 athletes and 31 chaperones had a great time at the Halloween SPORTS Camp on October 24-26, 2014 at Green Oak Ranch in Vista. Besides participating in the various sports and camp activities, the athletes went trick-or-treating and went to the scary Haunted House.

Athletes can sign-up for SPORTS Camp Session #1 on May 15-17, 2015 or SPORTS Camp Session #2 on August 7-9, 2015 at Wildwood Ranch in Ramona which will offer a general program of camp & sports activities as well as swimming and a zip line. Sessions #1 and #2 can accommodate athletes using wheelchairs. Athletes spend 2 nights in cabins and eat 6 camp meals under the guidance of camp counselors/chaperones. Persons with developmental disabilities, families, friends, volunteers, coaches, and supporters are all welcome to join S4EA at the SPORTS Camp.

The SPORTS Camp Registration Fee is $150 per session to help pay for lodging, meals, insurance, patch, supplies, etc. Mail Fee and SPORTS Camp Registration Form as soon as possible to SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes (9575 Aero Drive Suite B, San Diego, CA 92123). A deposit of $50 will reserve your spot in the SPORTS Camp. For more information, please call S4EA at (858)565-7432 or go to the S4EA website at www.s4ea.org.
