Reminiscing about the 2020 Guacamole Bowl

On Saturday, February 29, 2020  members of Law Enforcement, Champions and the Open Divisions scooped and smashed and chopped and mixed it up at the Balboa Park Club (2144 Pan American Road West, San Diego 92101) to answer the question: "Who Makes The Best Guacamole?"

The 17th annual Guacamole Bowl pitted (excuse the pun) San Diego’s Finest against a variety of teams in a good old fashioned cook-off.

Competing along side the Law Enforcement teams were a Champions Division as well as community teams competed in the Open Division. 20 teams with 175 competitors competed in the divisions.

1st prize not only included the winning team’s name permanently engraved on the highly coveted 'Guacamole Cup' but afforded the winning team bragging rights for a year. Congratulations to the South Bay S4EA team for winning the 2020 'Guacamole Cup'

The Guacamole Bowl is open to Members who are invited to come out and sample all the great guacamole. An $8 admission pays membership fee and gets you a bag of chips and all the guacamole you can eat. You also have the opportunity to vote for your favorite recipe and select the finalists in each division.

You be the Judge!

About the 2022 Guacamole Bowl

SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes is holding the 19th annual Law Enforcement Challenge "Guacamole Bowl" fundraiser on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 10:00am until 2:00pm outside at the Recital Hall Lawn by the Balboa Park Club (2144 Pan American Road West, San Diego 92101). In recent years the charity has been SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes. Over the eighteen years, the Guacamole Bowl has raised over $168,000 to support local programs for athletes with developmental disabilities.

According to Weathersby, over 2,000 pounds of fresh avocados donated this year by Henry Avocado Corporation are used by the various teams along with lots of onions, tomatoes, cilantro and jalapenos, provided by the Daly Family to the competing teams. Matt added, "If you like good guacamole, and lots of it, then Balboa Park is the place to be".
